In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, weapon durability is a key gameplay mechanic and for better or worse traditional weapon repair isnt really an option. This sucks though and can very easily frustrate the already embattled playership given how many weapons exist just within the game. There are a few exceptions, of course, that bring that weapon can be restored back to some capacity.
Weapon DurabilityThe first time I had held a weapon, it came as quite the surprise that it could break.
In Breath of the Wild, weapons and shields will eventually break after repeatedly being used. There are perma-deaths and should a character die the player must take over as a completely different protagonist, everything — guns, equipment— lost with an old body.
Special Case: Weapons cannot be permanently destroyed
Lightscale Trident, and Ceremonial Trident – These are repairable by Zora blacksmith Dento using a zora spear or flint (lightscale trident also requires diamond). This sets them apart from ALL other weapons in the game1.
Hylian Shield — This shield can be purchased again from a specific side quest, but it cannot be repaired once broken. This is a very busy shield because it is easily the most durable available to you for almost all of the game1.weapon repair (ad)
Master SwordUnlike other weapons, the Master Sword never breaks for good. Instead, it weakens and has to breathe for a bit after heavy use. The loss of this feature does not imply that the players cannot depend on it in a permanent way1.
Strategic Weapon Management
Considering the restrictions on weapon repair, players are incentivized to strategize:
Use a More Diverse Range of Weapons: Using your more powerful or rarer weapons during battles may be tempting, it’s best to save those for the main scenarios and use others where they’re not as necessary.
Gather: You will want stuff like Flint and Diamonds to get from repairing certain weapons when you can.
Health is Important: Using weapons with strong durability might not necessary overburden gameplay character needing items replaced.
So all in all, Weapon Repair is not a part of traditional gameplay but knowing how to repair weapons in botw can go long way combined with thoughtful weapon management which tops up the zelda breathe of wildtip for today.
