Fire Emblem Awakening Weapon DurabilityWeapon durability has historically been a critical game play mechanic in Fire Emblem, and indeed is central to the strategic thinking throughout all of the many skirmishes that together make up this classic strategy title. Weapons are use a set number of times, with stronger weapons using more uses (20-45) Weapons have durability and will be unable to use at all after they reach zero, turning combats into managing situations. This incentivizes careful consideration as to when and how to pull out these most powerful of tools, moderate reliance on them before important battles can result in running dry at the worst possible moment.
Impact of Armsthrift Skill
This goes a long way towards making weapon durability much less of an issue when you factor in the introduction of Armsthrift as well. Calculates on (Luck / 5)% and if user passes chance then their weapon’s durability does not decrease upon use. Characters with high Luck can use this to tactically maintain infinite uses on certain weapons, and not be deterred from more aggressive play styles under the fear of running out. This is effected by an interesting mechanic that changes the priorities from maintaining weapons to getting even greater battles out of your current arsenal.
Power and Durablity Missed Attacks
A more unique aspect of weapon durability in Fire Emblem Awakening is that a missed attack will not decrease the weapons’ remaining uses available. It gives players the confidence to take chances, without fear of missing a strike and wasting weapon uses. That said this rule does not apply to magic spells as in some older games it would consume durability if you even cast the spell and missed.
As a whole, the weapon durability in Fire Emblem Awakening merely adds an additional strategic layer to the gameplay but Armsthrift and mechanics that come with missing were implemented very suitably into it.weapon durability (ad)
