Repair Installation Prep
Items you will needWindows XP installation CDBackup of files (if needed repair can cause data loss)
Boot into Recovery Console: Simply reboot your computer and set it to boot from the Windows XP installation CD. You will probably need to disable some BIOS options or change the boot order in bios and enable cd booing.

Executing Repair Commands
Command Line Interface: After you open the recovery console, a command prompt will appear. Type the following commands here:
chkdsk /r (this checks the disk identifying and correcting any errors)
fixboot — This command is used to write a new boot sector on the system partition.
Finally, fixmbr >
This will repair the MBR.
Continue through the Read: Every command you type, press ENTER and follow each instruction that appears on the screen.
Completing the Repair Process
Reboot: After running the commands, type exit and hit ENTER|Restart your computer.
Test system: Restart and ensure Windows XP starts up normally.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If your computer doesnt arrive with the CD, then check that this BIOS settings are correct and also include things like a bootsystem within an optical generate.
If setup loops happen, make sure your hard drive is set in 1st boot device on BIOS.
If you follow these instructions exactly, it is almost guaranteed that your Windows XP installation will be both repaired and ASPI-compliant!
