Preparation and Assessment
Clean the scratched area using an appropriate interior-cleaning product (ad)(ad) and a microfiber cloth prior to starting any repairs. Inspect the scratch under a bright light in order to gauge its depth and extent. Shallow scratches can be buffed out, while deep gouges may have to be filled.
Simple Scratches: Heat Method
For shallow scratches:
Gently warm the plastic using a hairdryer or heat gun on low setting.
Gently rub the scratch with your finger in a circular motion as this will soften up the area.
Permit the plastic to cool and solidify.
Buff with a microfiber cloth.
This works by lightly melting and then reforming the plastic surface.
Surface scratches- Polishing Compound
Rub gently with soft cloth and some plastic-polishing compound
Using circular motions, gently buff over the scratched area.
If necessary, slowly increase the pressure.
Take a clean microfiber cloth and wipe off the remaining excess.
Repeat if necessary.
