Sea of Thieves: Reputation Levels Explained
Sea of Thieves is rolling out a most delightful change in the game — players can now buy rep levels for every faction, once per month. This new feature is a progression system that adds another wrinkle to how you play by increasing your reputation with the three major Trading Companies — The Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls and Merchant Alliance.
Monthly Purchase Limit
You can purchase one reputation level per faction each month. This restriction only pushes players to play the game more than just paying for levels. This monthly cap is in place so players are not done for the month and while it does still need to partake in voyages/events to progress there rep further.
Impact on Gameplay
This change is in the interest of game balance to incentivize you and others like yourself, while also promoting interaction with other players. Playing the game this way promotes players making purchases to limit, and doing so pushes events happening in that community. Further, it prevents fake progression and introduce a real grind as players will have to game their reputation not just purchase them.
Future Developments
However in a game as wide ranging and expansive with its ecosystem like Sea of Thieves, the reputation system may require further tweaking to ensure that it is fair for all. On that subject, players have also asked Rollins what he could share about a higher level reputation cap and new rewards.Sea of Thieves (ad) The feedback seems to be that the current system is better than nothing at all but there’s still room for improvements and more features could enrich entire game experience.
