Why Won’t My iPhone Charge? 8 Easy Fixes
Plug your charger into the wall or connect to your computer via USB. If it is still does not charge, change which USB port on the computer that you use or plug it into the wall itself with a different adapter. If one adapter is charging your iPhone, while the other does not work, then there is most probably a problem with the former.
Test Your Charger and Cable
Check the cable and adapter for obvious damage such as wear, fraying, or visible wires; funky smell, overheating while charging. Do not wear damaged ornaments.
It is also important to use an Apple-certified or MFi-certified cable and adapter. Charging problems—maybe you bought some cheap knockoff too
Test it out with another cable and adapter to narrow down the issue. If it does charge with one and not the other, replace the bad component.
Clean the Charging Port
Gently clear the charging port at the backside of iPhone with a smooth, dry toothbrush or compressed air to do away with dust, lint, or different debris.
Refrain from using anything sharp that can ruin the soft pins hidden within the receptacle.
Your iPhone maybe came in contact with one and if the port is damaged, your iPhone will likely need service.
Force Restart Your iPhone
When your iPhone is still not responding after using different cables and adapters, then force restart it:
For iPhone 8 or later: Press and quickly release the volume up, press and quickly release the volume down, then hold down the power (side) button until you see the Apple logo
On iPhone 7/7 Plus, hold the volume down and side buttons until apple logo appears.
iPhone 6s or earlier: Press and hold the home and side/top buttons until the Apple logo appears.
Check for Software Updates
The first thing you need to do is to check your iPhone on the updated version of iOS. Settings >

General > Software Update.
It is also possible that a software update could correct any issues caused by bugs or glitches with the charging.
Optimized Battery Charging Off
Your iPhone won’t charge higher than 80% but this is normal with a feature like Optimized Battery Charging that avoids charging all the way to extend battery overall.
Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and switch the setting off if you would rather your iPhone charge up to 100%.
Try Wireless Charging
If your iPhone is compatible with wireless charging, charge it using a Qi-certified charger.
Ensure the wireless charger is compatible with your iPhone variant, and it must be connected to a power circuit.
Reset All Settings
In case of last resort, you may try resetting your iOS settings without losing the data:
Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset All Settings.
Contact Apple Support
Alternatively, if the problem still persists even after all these steps, it may be a hardware problem and should therefore require you to service your iPhone.
If your iPhone is not turning on, consider contacting Apple Support or taking your iPhone to an Apple Store or authorized service provider.
